Hey there! My name is Joe O’Bryant, welcome to Timber & Tin Foundry, my one-man home artist shop in Knoxville, TN. Let me share a little about my process and the work you see here. Cast metal inlay is my labor of love, where I combine the natural beauty of timber with the allure of metal.

Picture this: I carefully carve intricate patterns into handpicked pieces of wood, paying homage to its grain and character. Then, I pour molten metal, a tin-bismuth alloy (safe non-toxic) allowing it to fill every nook and cranny. As the metal cools and solidifies, the alloy has an unusual property to expand, creating a tight fit between wood and metal and effectively joining the materials creating a product without need of glues or resins.

There's something incredibly satisfying about seeing these two distinct elements unite, creating a visual symphony that I love for each piece’s unique mixture of texture, color, and story. It is a journey of self-expression, where I push my boundaries of creativity and challenge the limits of traditional craftsmanship.
