Malik was placed on probation for assault on a peace officer and attempting to elude an officer when he rammed Sierra County Sheriff’s vehicle in July 2012. The violation of probation was his commission of a new offense where he stabbed a victim several times in West Sacramento while saying he was going to kill the victim. A jury acquitted Malik of attempted murder but convicted on Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Threats, and Causing Great Bodily injury.
