Also with Scott Tate from St. Charles Mo. about his new program called Try It Local. It may be a great fit for the Chamber Daily Deal program. Try It Local are setup specifically to support Chambers of Commerce and Scott has provided me with a good reference for this program.
Today we'll talk about Groupon and Try It Local so you can decide if this might be a good strategy for your members. In addition, we can talk about how you could do this today using the current system with custom improvements to the ad page to meet your specific requirements.
1. How does a program like this work.
2. What is the financials associated with this kind of application.
3. Who sells the Chamber Daily Deal to members.
4. What is the secret sauce in promoting a local program like this.
5. What liabilities could be encountered in hosting these deals for members.
6. Could we all partner together in order to develop a central ad editiing service company?
7. Q&A
FInancial Notes: Business gets 70%, Try It Local gets 20% (to cover hosting, credit card fees, etc.), and the Chamber gets 10%. This compares to Groupon which takes 50% and the business keeps 50%. Another nice thing is this company pays the week following the offer where as Groupon can take up to 90 days – that length of time is not good for small businesses.
