1. Engineering related to the new "Enhanced by Membership 180" edition of the Chamber Nation system will be ready this month.
2. Once again many changes have been made to improve performance of the new newsletter editor which we are using for this newsletter. Seems to be working very well and publishing quickly on all browsers including Safari.
3. Monthly board member report has many updates this month and should provide better information.

Main Street Crowd is the economic development platform developed by Crowdfunding Offerings, Ltd., a Colorado Corporation.  As the corporate name implies, the company was originally formed in 2011 with the intent to become a licensed funding portal for equity crowdfunding under the JOBS Act, if passed.  The JOBS Act and CROWDFUND Act of 2012 were passed and signed into law in 2012.  We are awaiting the rules from the SEC and expect equity crowdfunding to begin in early 2014.  Crowdfunding, as that word implies, is the collection of funds through small contributions (the funding) from many parties (the crowd) to finance a particular worthwhile project.  Main Street Crowd focuses on business development and community development projects.

While equity crowdfunding is expected to be transformational with respect to the way businesses obtain capital, a study of the crowdfunding industry models and the application of rewards based crowdfunding models to equity markets makes clear that simply adding equity to the crowdfunding mix is not the beat-all, end-all solution to economic development in communities for a variety of reasons.
