System Change Log

Here are the Chamber Nation system updates for the past 30 days (January):
  1. There is now an automated email that is sent to your members when they click on the "Request Setup" Button (Button #1), letting them know that we have received their request and are working on their TCS page and will send another email to them when it is complete.
  2. There is now an opportunity for Micro-Site Support - where you can have one regional chamber with multiple, small, localized sites.  You can now utilize system link 1.18 by city if you have the recreation categories turned on.  This way you can choose the recreation type AND the city in order to narrow the results down even further.
  3. You can utilize system link 1.10 to do a directory search by city.
  4. In your newsletter, for the Event Listing, you now have the option to include the event time and location, as well as the event name and description.  This will allow you to have a complete listing of your events at the fingertips of all of your members.
  5. Also in the newsletter, in addition to being able to list the New Members for your organization, you can now also list the Renewing Members within the specified date range that you choose.  There are two additional options with the renewing members list:  1. members who are renewing within the range of dates - regardless of payment status and 2. members who have made payments on renewal invoices within the range of dates.
  6. An incredible list of new On-Demand Training videos available.  Please see the "Education - Now Available" section in this newsletter for the complete list.
  7. More videos are continuing to go up on the Chamberclassroom.com website for the "On Demand" Training.
  8. In order to clean up the main menu for system administrators we have moved a number of "configuration" items: member plans and member categories (moved to mms config menu), send lead to members (on CRM system menu, right column), Member Match-Merge (member database admin, bottom of page), Social Network Tools (moved to MMS config, right column), Bounced Email List (link at top of Broadcast Messages), Attendance Tracking Module (at bottom of Calendar Admin). If you have any questions please let us know.

Educational Tip of the Month

295_01022014120118.jpgDue to security measures, you cannot embed YouTube videos into an email.  However, there may be many times that you would like to send videos via email.  Here is a great solution for this, without any risk and without violating any security measures.  The way to do this is to take a picture of the video image.  Upload that image (as a jpg, png, or gif) to yoru email and then link that image directly to the video.  This way when the recipient clicks on the image (which will look like a video), they will be taken directly to that video on the YouTube website.  This looks better and is often more effective than a simple text-link.

Education - Now Available

We have a newly-designed structure for our on-demand training.  We continue to work to make this a better experience for you.  Also, there is a quick shortcut URL to remember, to be able to access ALL of the on-demand videos:  ondemand.chamberclassroom.com (and scroll down the page to see the list and links for each training).

The Newest "On Demand" Videos are:
  • Session #7 (Intermediate) - The CRM System:  The CRM System is used to track your contact (interaction) with members and prospects.  With this tool, you can record your emails, visits, and phone calls with your members and prospects.  You can also report on these contacts.
  • Session #15 (Intermediate) - Creating a Form Letter for Sending to Your Members - How to create a form letter to be able to send to individual members, without having to re-create the letter each time you want to send it to someone.
  • Newsletter Manager Training - 5 Videos that cover completely how to create a newsletter, including creating the newsletter templates.
  • Calendar of Events Training - 4 Videos that cover how to create an event within the calendar of events.
  • Event Registration Training - 9 Videos that cover the full spectrum of event registration, including how to create the event, promote it, manage and edit it.
  • Broadcast Messaging Training - 6 Videos covering how to set up and send broadcast messages.

Avoiding Spam Filters

248_11262013125902.jpg
Although we are working constantly to improve deliverability of emails, many problems with spam filtering are related to the content or formatting of the emails themselves.

Here are some tips to avoid having your emails get mis-identified as spam.
  • Avoid all caps in the subject
  • Avoid excessive exclamation points (Sale!!!)
  • Avoid certain keywords in the body, but especially in the subject
    • Sale
    • Free
    • Attention
    • Any typical sales verbiage - buy direct, cheap, act now
    • Any common pharmaceutical trade name
    • Any adult-only type product
  • Avoid referring to the attachment in the subject line (this is done in viruses)
  • Avoid using brackets and parenthesis in the subject line
  • Limit the number of links within the body, less than 5 if possible
  • Avoid using large images in emails - the proportion of images to text in terms of area, if too high, will trip some spam filters
  • Avoid lots of red coloring on fonts
