Boise Entrepreneur Week is the largest entrepreneurial event in Idaho and one of the largest in the West. It’s a high-energy, community-powered 5-day event that celebrates and builds Idaho’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Boise Entrepreneur Week is the one event each year that brings together thousands of entrepreneurs, would-be entrepreneurs, and the organizations that support them. Over the course of five days, we share, challenge, and support each other in building not just businesses, but also individual confidence and skills, a deep sense of community, and Idaho’s economy.

A robotic device in development at the University of Idaho could help shape the future of nationwide reforestation efforts.
The 3-foot-wide robot, designed by U of I computer science students in partnership with the USDA, uses AI technology to scan for, identify and locate weed growth within a seedling tree nursery. The robot then uses electricity to eradicate weeds, which can hinder growth of seedlings. A demonstration of the device’s weeding capabilities was recently held at the Coeur d’Alene nursery in front of representatives from all six of the Forest Service’s nurseries located across the country ... Two Idaho National Laboratory (INL) technologies earned the coveted title of 2024 R&D 100 Award winner following the R&D World Magazine’s official announcement this morning.
The competition, now in its 62nd year, celebrates technology innovations from across the public and private sectors. Winning an award is a prestigious distinction for inventors.
Laboratories and companies from 12 countries submitted nominations in 2024, and a panel of more than 50 industry-leading experts ranked entries on technical significance, uniqueness, and applicability across industry, government, and academia. Typically, the U.S. Department of Energy’s national laboratories have dozens of finalists every year.
INL has won more than 70 R&D 100 Awards in the past 40 years. Full Article Here |

Half-a-million grant awarded to intermountain tech hub
Marc Lutz//August 6, 2024// A grant to help deploy advanced nuclear reactors and solidify economic growth was recently awarded to a tech hub focused on nuclear energy.
The Intermountain-west Nuclear Energy Corridor, or INEC, Tech Hub was funded with a $500,000 Consortium Accelerator Award through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration.
INEC stated it will use the funding to “implement its tech hub strategy focused on advanced nuclear reactor deployments, including technology advancements, workforce and supply chain development and fuel support for the domestic nuclear industry.”

Meet ITC New Board Member, Dr. Lori Barber... |

The College of Eastern Idaho (CEI) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lori Barber as the second president of CEI. Dr. Barber replaces former President, Rick Aman on the ITC Board. We are so grateful for his service over the years.
Dr. Barber has served as Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at College of Eastern Idaho since 2019. Previously, Dr. Barber served as the Dean of General Education at CEI. Dr. Barber earned a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University; a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in History and Anthropology from Idaho State University; and a Bachelor of Arts and Letters in History from Idaho State University.
