The Nortons are returning to Plumas County!

Returning June 16th through 21st, classic motorcycles and their owners will arrive at the Plumas Sierra County Fairgrounds for the International Norton Owners Association (INOA) 2025 Feather River Rally III. This is the third time the INOA rally will enjoy the perfect setting of Quincy. In 1996, and again in 2016, over three hundred Norton and British motorcycle enthusiasts arrived in Quincy from across North America and around the world to share their interest in these classic motorcycles. This year’s attendees are thrilled at the opportunity to return and once again experience the finest roads, sights, and hospitality the Sierra Nevada Mountains have to offer.

Hosted by the Northern California Norton Owners Club (NCNOC), a chapter of the INOA, this year’s rally welcomes ALL classic and vintage motorcycles and motorcycle enthusiasts. Featured events include "tech talks", group rides, field events, and a swap meet. A highlight of the week is the concours show where rare and unique motorcycles will compete for awards. The concours is open for public viewing. Everyone who attends can cast their votes for best-in-class "Roadster", "Interstate", "Fastback", and many other classes of Norton, British, European, American, and Japanese motorcycles.

Group rides explore the best local roads to great destinations in Plumas County: Bucks Lake, La Porte, Graeagle, Downieville, and more. Keep an eye out mid-week when over one hundred motorcycles parade west through Quincy on their way to the beautiful Lake Almanor basin.

Classic motorcycle owners are friendly, and love to talk about their motorcycles. When you see them be sure to strike up a conversation!

Piper J Gallery teams up with Douglas Devore Photography to Open Ridgeline Gallery, June 2025

The new Ridgeline Gallery in Historic Downtown Truckee will have “Art with Altitude”

Truckee, Calif. (May 28, 2025)- Piper Johnson of Piper J Gallery, open since 2016, recently teamed up with Truckee-based photographer Douglas DeVore, one of the former owners of Alpenglow Gallery. Together they are building the largest art venue in historic downtown Truckee at 10104 Donner Pass Road called Ridgeline Gallery.

“We wanted to create a gallery that reflects the beauty of the region and complements the architecture of modern mountain living,” says co-founder Piper Johnson. “Piper J will stay modern and diverse while Ridgeline Gallery will lean more into art that’s connected to the Sierra.”

Like its fine art counterpart, Ridgeline Gallery will offer original paintings however it will also feature a stunning variety of Douglas DeVore’s landscape photography. Representing more than 30 artists specializing in all mediums, the artwork will consistently change with a new monthly exhibition coinciding with the Truckee Art Walk on the first Saturday of every month. Ridgeline Co-Founder Piper Johnson and her team also provide comprehensive art consulting services in curation, installing exhibitions, and coordinating custom commissions.

To celebrate the opening of Truckee’s newest art space, Ridgeline Gallery will host a Public Launch Party on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 5pm–7pm. Guests are invited to experience the artwork; meet the founders; enjoy live music, live painting, refreshments; and explore Truckee’s expanding arts district. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 4 pm on June 18.

Please reach out to us if you would like to take a tour of Ridgeline Gallery before the Launch Party or would like to write about this project for your publication. Thank you for your interest in helping elevate the art scene in downtown Truckee!

FOREST SERVICE FIRE FIGHTERS TO BE RECOGNIZED
BY EASTERN SIERRA FIRE FIGHTER’S AUXILIARY
Helpers Needed.
Help celebrate the local Forest Service first responders who have come to assist our Sierra County Fire Protection District Volunteers while they provide you with fire and emergency medical service.
The Eastern Sierra County Firefighters Auxiliary, in cooperation with the Sierraville Recreation Association, will host a “Tailgate Celebration” gathering at Little Truckee Summit at 1300 hours, Thursday June 26th.   The intent is to express appreciation to those local Forest Service firefighters who have or may be called to aid our local volunteers through a Cooperative Agreement.  The Cooperative Agreement allows the Forest Service to provide back-up when requested by the Fire District.   Over the last few years those backup requests have included: a boat fire at Webber Lake, two out-building fires in Sierraville, and a number of vehicle accidents on Hwy 89, 49, as well as accidents as far out as Webber Lake and Sardine Valley.   Medical assistance has also been provided to residents of Sierraville, Calpine and campers at Stampede and Jackson Meadows.
Donated “homemade” desserts would be appreciated by those young firefighters who are working away from their homes during their first fire season as well as those veteran firefighters facing the start of another hard season.
The Eastern Sierra Firefighters Auxiliary is a 501 C 3, not for profit organization supporting the volunteer firefighters of the Sierra County Fire Protection District.
Those interested in helping are asked to contact the event coordinators:  Rick Maddalena at 530.906.5081 or Paul Cueto at 530.994.3277.
