MAINTAINING INSURANCE - ASSEMBLYWOMAN MEGAN DAHLE

Greetings‚
I know many of you have faced the incredibly difficult challenge of maintaining insurance in wildfire-prone areas‚ but today‚ we have an important opportunity to make our voices heard. The California Insurance Commissioner‚ Ricardo Lara‚ is opening up public input on new regulations that could lead to more insurance options for those living in high-risk areas.
These regulations are designed to require insurance companies to write more policies in wildfire-affected regions‚ helping to reverse the trend we've seen in recent years. For many‚ this marks the first real chance to address the issues we've been grappling with for far too long. The Commissioner's proposal also seeks to ensure that insurance companies account for the proactive steps homeowners have taken to protect their properties‚ as well as modernize how wildfire risks are calculated.
This is a critical moment for our district‚ and I encourage you to make your voice heard.
A virtual public hearing will be held on September 17‚ 2024‚ at 10 AM‚ and I strongly urge you to participate. Written comments can also be submitted to CDIRegulations@insurance.ca.gov.
This is our chance to push for faster‚ more effective action from the state‚ and to ensure that our needs are front and center as these regulations take shape.
As always‚ my office will continue to advocate for solutions that address the unique challenges our community faces. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need help participating in this important process. Learn more by reading the entire press release here
