My husband, Louis Wolverine and I have taken an interest in the wolf problem around Sierra Valley. We live in the Boreal forest, at the bottom of the sub arctic climate zone. As a teenager and young adult, he and his family worked trap lines up and down rivers and lakes. There were always wolves there, but they stayed clear of people. So, Louis was thinking that in the forests around Sierra Valley there must not be enough large wild animals to sustain the wolves' diet. Up here we have the usual small wild animals such as martins, mink, hares, etc., but additionally there are deer, moose and caribou. There are habitats that are appropriate for wolves, but if the wolves are killing and eating the cows, we are assuming that there aren't enough large wild animals to sustain wolves.

Dear editor at Sierra Booster,
President Trump does not like windmills. In December, his Interior Department issued stop-work orders for five offshore windfarms along the Atlantic coast, putting thousands of workers out of a job just days before Christmas.
Thankfully, in a little over a month, federal judges have ordered all the projects to move forward, putting workers back on the job and keeping the projects on track to power more than 2.5 million homes and businesses.
Right now, families across the country are shouldering the strain of unaffordable energy bills. Offshore wind is a clean, reliable, and ready-to-go solution. These five projects are already creating thousands of local jobs and helping to transition states away from fossil fuels.
This has been an intensely cold winter. Large portions of the country have been blanketed in snow and thousands of homes have lost power. While fossil fuel power plants struggle to stay on during winter storms, offshore wind is a reliable energy source that helps communities save money and keep the lights on. In fact, offshore wind is strongest in the winter and at night - right when we need it most.
I am calling on President Trump to stop his senseless attacks on offshore wind. Let the workers finish the job.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Herz

Hello Everyone,
The District and the Sierra Plumas Teachers' Association (SPTA) held another productive negotiations session on Monday, February 23. We were able to reach tentative agreements on all articles except Article 4 and Article 15, which require further discussion by the Dis-trict.
Article 4: Class Size
4.4 – We are still actively negotiating compensation for teachers when class sizes exceed the agreed-upon maximums.
4.11 – We are also continuing discussions regarding compensation for elementary teacher ISP contracts.
Article 15: Input in Selecting New Programs for Schools
15.1, 15.2, 15.3 – We are still negotiating language related to how curriculum and instruction are defined within the article.
The session was positive and productive, and both teams are hopeful we can wrap things up soon. We will send a final update once everything is finalized to keep staff and the community informed.
Sincerely,
Sean Snider, Superintendent and
Miranda Prakash, SPTA President
